JOB
DESCRIPTION:
Courthouse
Researchers will visit local courthouses on a regular basis to collect
basic information on currently recorded mortgage deeds. This
will involve becoming familiar with local courthouse computer systems
to access the document images, identifying appropriate documents
to capture, and entering the necessary information via a laptop
PC into an Excel spreadsheet in a format provided by TMS. Data collection
guidelines are specific and must be followed precisely. Selected
subcontractors will receive detailed training instructions. Files
containing recently collected courthouse data are then submitted
to TMS via email as soon as possible after being collected.
Hours
and days worked are flexible, depending on the number of assigned
courthouses and the recording volumes in each. Researchers
are expected to remain up-to-date on capturing recently recorded
information, which may require frequent and/or lengthier visits
to busier courthouses.
Candidates
must have a laptop computer, email and internet access, MS Excel
(2000 or higher) and good typing skills. Must be detail-oriented
and work well with minimal supervision. Must reside in the
geographic area in which the assigned courthouses are located.
Subcontractors
will be paid on a per record basis. Earning potential will be based
on how much and how quickly you work. Starting salaries are generally
around $10/hr, with experienced researchers averaging $15/hr or
more.
Please
note that selected applicants will be Independent Contractors, not
employees of TMS.
